Mezco Toys: Hellboy action figure review

Recently i bought the first Hellboy comic book, Seed Of Destruction. Before that my only knowledge of Hellboy was the movies, which i really liked by the way.
I quickly found out that i had overlooked  something great. Last year, Neil Gaimans amazing work, Sandman, rekindled my interest in comic books, and i was looking for something similar, or at least something of a similar quality. I found that in Hellboy. Granted, i have only read one book to this date, but i know that this is something i need to delve into and i`ll definitely buy the next issue.

So i found myself browsing the net for some merchandise, when i found this amazing figure by Mezco. It is sculpted in the way Mignola envisioned it, and was just the thing i was looking for.

The packaging looks great. It`s one of those moments when you take away the wrapping and the revealed content just smack you square in the nose with its awesomeness.
You have your cardboard with some Mignola art on the front, a picture of other figures in the Hellboy line on the back.

The first thing that caught me eye was, of course, the right hand. The iconic "Right hand of Doom" detailed down to the smallest crack. If Mezco went wrong with the hand, the whole figure would really loose its shine. But they nailed it pretty damn good.

The torso and head is equally fantastic. Great colouring, great sculpting. I don`t know what kinda material they used, but it`s rock solid. It`s pretty heavy and it feels like you`re picking up a stone.

Articulation is better than one should think. There isn't room for any advanced posing, but you can move the upper and lower arms, the wrists and the elbow. The tail has three points of articulation, and the legs has one at the knees. The head isn't really poseable, mine moved just a few millimetres. No movement at the hips, but you can move the upper torso about half an inch.

It also comes with a small assortment of accessories, you get Hellboys gun the Samaritan, a walkie talkie and a horse shoe. For luck i guess. He comes with a equipment belt which is pretty damn good. Not sideshow quality, but this is an action figure at a reasonable price, so i don`t mind. It still have some nice details to it, like a small cross fastened to the belt with a chain.

As i mentioned,  the colouring are superb. They use the right shade of red and shadowing is great.
"War, war never changes"

If there is something lacking with this figure, i can`t seem to find it. I`m not really big on tons of accessories, quality above quantity as they say. But including the "Big Baby" would make it even better. When that is said and done, i`m happy with what i got.

This figure gets a perfect ten out of ten, and is consider a must have for fans of both the comics and the movies.

Thanks for reading, feel free to email me, or post a comment if you got some questions.
